Life in the Valley

The Unofficial Home of Missouri Valley Conference Baseball

A New Era of MVC Baseball is Here!

Welcome to Life in the Valley. This site debuts today as the unofficial home of Missouri Valley Conference baseball. Like any worthwhile endeavor, we will start slow and hopefully do bigger and greater things as the 2023 season rolls on. Today, with Opening Day just one sleep away, it’s our pleasure to bring you thoughts, previews, projections, anything we can think of, really, to highlight one of the most competitive mid-major conferences in the country.

Keep up with us on Twitter at @MVConfBaseball. There you will find content from all of The Valley’s 10 teams, as well as national news sources producing Valley content. We’ll also live blog games there, as well, along with weekly features.

Here, we’ll have a mix of longer thoughts on games, trends, the conference races, etc., while also mixing it up with quick thoughts that struck our fancy and that we think you might be interested in.

This was born from the realization that The Valley had no official baseball media site, such as it does for men’s basketball. And given the quality of baseball in the conference, that wasn’t right. We can’t claim to be official – we aren’t affiliated with The Valley or any of its member institutions in any way (full disclosure: the site manager is an Evansville grad).

But it’s our hope to bring more attention to The Valley and build interest in what should be an excellent season. And with 11 games tomorrow (UIC has a doubleheader at Saint Mary’s), there’s no time like the present to jump in.

So join us, and let’s all enjoy Life in the Valley.

About THE AUTHOR

Ed Morgans is a Valley grad (UE ’95) and a huge college baseball fan. With no official MVC site for baseball, I’m trying to cover it as best I can from central Pennsylvania. Doing my best to shine a light on a conference full of great baseball. Thanks for reading! – Ed
