Owls Hand Bruins Heavy Defeat

Two Valley Teams in Action Tonight

Kennesaw State improved to 7-6 while dropping Belmont to the same record in comprehensive fashion Wednesday, as the visiting Owls routed the Bruins, 15-2, in Nashville.

Kennesaw State held modest leads of 3-1 and 7-2 before exploding for 8 runs in the 6th inning and taking a 13-run lead. The game was stopped after 7 innings. The Owls scored 3 runs in the 6th on bases-loaded walks. Two other scored on a single and a fielder’s choice, respectively, before Brayden Eidson cleared the bases with a 3-run double to complete the scoring. Eidson went 4-for-4 with 3 runs and 5 RBIs.

Belmont scored in the 2nd on Jack Rando’s RBI single and in the 4th on a solo homer by Sam Slaughter, who scored both Bruins runs.

Looking ahead, the Bruins will be home once again this weekend for a 3-game series against UAB.

Today in The Valley: Thursday’s slate features Southern Illinois beginning its weekend at home against Houston Christian, while Murray State’s rescheduled game at North Alabama will be played today at 4 p.m.

There is no video stream slated for the SIU series, even though it’s at home. This seems to be an issue around The Valley early this season.

There’s no video (or audio) stream available for Murray State at North Alabama.
