The Unofficial Home of Missouri Valley Conference Baseball
Thursday Stat Pack!
Two Valley Series Scheduled to Start Tonight
At times while putting together the Valley leaders this morning, the offensive categories were starting to look like the Murray State invitational. With a .304 team batting average (2nd in the conference) and 42 homers, there are gaudy numbers up and down the lineup.
Not to be outdone, however, is the SIU batting order. That lineup features a parade of hitters with on-base percentages over .400, even though none appear in this week’s top 5 because it took .522 to crack the list. Still, looking at the Salukis’ ability to get on base this season is impressive.
Indiana State leads the way in the conference with a 4.23 team ERA, with Murray State second at 4.44. The Sycamores and Racers appear to be eyeing the top of the class this season, but SIU, UIC, and perhaps others will have something to say about that.
Ed Morgans is a Valley grad (UE ’95) and a huge college baseball fan. With no official MVC site for baseball, I’m trying to cover it as best I can from central Pennsylvania. Doing my best to shine a light on a conference full of great baseball. Thanks for reading! – Ed
